Your plans stay private.

Swatch doesn't require a separate Swatch account or run advertising. Your plans live on your iPhone and in your private iCloud. The desktop dashboard uses your Apple Account to access the same iCloud data. Larger desktop photo uploads pass through our relay, and the iPhone app sends limited usage events as explained below.

Planning data

Your grids, photos, colour placeholders and captions are stored locally on your iPhone and sync through your private iCloud when available. The iPhone app doesn't send this planning content to our servers. The desktop dashboard can also create and edit posts in your iCloud. Photos in the desktop library remain in that browser; placing them in a post adds the post's photo to iCloud.

The desktop dashboard

The dashboard at tryswatch.app/desktop runs in your browser and talks to your own iCloud directly, signed in with your Apple Account. Your grids and captions go straight between your browser and Apple.

One thing takes a different road. A photo you add on the dashboard that is too large to send to iCloud directly passes through a relay we run, hosted on Vercel, on its way to Apple. The relay hands the photo on and returns Apple's receipt. It doesn't keep the photo, look at it or log it. Like any web host, Vercel records the time, size and status of each request, and the relay may run in another country, including the United States. Downloading photos from iCloud and operations performed directly in the iPhone app do not use this relay. A larger photo reused or re-uploaded from the dashboard may pass through it again.

The dashboard keeps you signed in on that browser until you sign out from its Profile page. On a shared computer, sign out when you finish.

Private iCloud sync

Swatch uses Apple's iCloud and CloudKit to sync planning data between your iPhone and the desktop dashboard. It uses the iCloud account signed in on your iPhone; sign in with that same Apple Account on desktop. Synced data lives in your private iCloud under Apple's terms. We don't have access to browse your private iCloud database.

Usage events

The iPhone app sends limited usage events, such as opening the app or viewing the Pro screen, to a public CloudKit database controlled by us. Swatch adds the event name, day and app version. It doesn't add your name, email address, Instagram handle, photos, captions or grids. Apple supplies normal CloudKit record metadata, which can include an iCloud record creator identifier. These events help us understand which parts of the app are used.

The website and desktop dashboard do not currently include a third-party product analytics script. Hosting providers process ordinary web requests and associated technical logs.

Support messages

When you submit the website support form, desktop feedback form or an in-app support or feature request, Formspree delivers your message to us. You may choose to include your name or email address. The forms also send relevant browser, app and device diagnostics to help investigate problems. Never send passwords. Only include a photo if it is needed to explain your support request.

Purchases through Apple

The one-time Pro unlock is handled by Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment and tells the app whether Pro is active. We don't receive or store your payment details.

Data retention and deletion

Deleting a synced post or grid in Swatch also removes it from your other connected devices after sync. Removing the iPhone app alone does not necessarily remove its iCloud data; you can manage that separately in your Apple Account's iCloud storage settings. Browser library data and downloads are separate copies on your computer. We keep support messages only as long as we need them to answer you.
